WHY COLLECT MEMBERSHIP DUES?

Hank Mills, AFASLP Past President explained the structure of the
umbrella organization, the Academy of Federal Audiologists and
Speech-Language Pathologists (AFASLP) and its constituent organizations, the AVASLP (Association of VA Speech-Language Pathologists), the AVAA (Association of VA Audiologists) and the MAA (Military Audiology Association) were conceived to provide a mechanism to represent the professional interest of federal audiologists and speech language pathologists.  Because these organizations are not a part of, nor act on behalf of the Federal government, they must express their organizational independence thru incorporation and establishing non-profit status.  At the present time, the Academy is in the process of application for incorporation in the District of Columbia with the intent of pursuit of non-profit status.
